About

Refs is a library of over 3000 films analyzed cut by cut, with 15-plate blueprints for each film and runnable recipes that Claude Code, Codex or Cursor can use to build new videos inspired by the same style.

Every film is measured precisely: shot boundaries are detected frame by frame, and pacing, shots and sound are recorded in a timeline. Browsing the archive is free, but full blueprints and command recipes require a Pro subscription.

The key difference: Refs is not a mood board — it's a runnable methodology. Every film comes with a recipe Claude can execute, meaning the agent doesn't blindly copy a style but understands the structure and reapplies it to new content.

Refs integrates with Claude Code via an MCP server, letting the agent search the archive, pull blueprints and plan your film from real references. Pricing is $10/month on an annual plan.

Why we picked it

Refs solves a real creative problem: when you ask Claude to produce a video, it needs good references. Instead of vague text descriptions, it gets quantitative analysis of films that actually worked. This data-driven approach to creative video production is unique and compelling.
