About

Byterover is a memory layer for AI coding agents. It stores conventions, decisions, and coding practices that an agent should follow, and lets the agent retrieve them across projects and team members, so knowledge does not have to be re-supplied in every session or repository.

The memory improves over time as more work is captured, and it installs as an extension for AI IDEs such as Cursor and Windsurf, sitting alongside whatever agent the developer already uses.

It is aimed at teams adopting AI coding at scale who want their agents to apply consistent standards and remember prior context, rather than each developer's agent starting from scratch.

Why we picked it

Byterover stood out for memory that travels across projects and team members, not just one session — a convention an agent learned on one repo carrying over to the next is worth naming against tools where every new project starts the agent's knowledge back at zero.
