UAE-based healthtech startup Nabta Health has secured fresh investment from Abu Dhabi's Phoenix Venture Partners (PVP), which led the second close of the company's ongoing $3 million pre-Series A round. The investment blends primary and secondary capital, further institutionalizing PVP's longstanding relationship with the company since its early days.
Founded in 2017 by Sophie Smith, Nabta Health develops AI-powered preventive healthcare solutions with a focus on women's health, combining early disease detection, digital health services, and clinical care. The company offers Aya, an AI-supported care navigation tool, alongside preventive screening and personalised care pathways that connect patients, employers, insurers, and healthcare providers to facilitate earlier intervention and more coordinated treatment.
The funding will support Nabta Health's commercial expansion, customer acquisition, and strategic partnerships, particularly with employers, insurance companies, and healthcare providers across the Gulf region. The company has evolved significantly from its origins as a direct-to-consumer women's health platform into a broader AI-powered preventive healthcare infrastructure play, serving enterprise clients rather than individual consumers.
PVP's Steve Khayat, who will join the Nabta board as the fund's representative, said the company is "at an inflection point" where focus can shift decisively toward go-to-market execution and sales acceleration. The pre-Series A round has attracted participation from institutional investors, venture capital firms, family offices, and high-net-worth investors across the Middle East and North Africa region, signaling growing confidence in AI-driven healthtech in the Gulf.
