Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg kicked off Connect 2026 with a clear message: the company is betting its consumer AI future on Muse, the personal AI agent launched just weeks ago. The keynote introduced a wave of new capabilities designed to make Muse indispensable across users' digital lives.
Muse, powered by the multimodal Muse Spark model, now features a real-time digital avatar system called Muse Realtime Avatar. Users can create a personalized avatar for their agent and video chat with it live — giving the previously faceless AI a face, body, and voice. The feature leans into Meta's metaverse ambitions while making the agent significantly more personable.
The agent is also expanding its reach. Muse will integrate with Meta's smart glasses line, activating via a wake word to guide workouts, log meals, book appointments, and help users purchase products they see. On the desktop front, Muse is coming to Mac, where it can operate any app and continue working even after users step away.
Meta locked in major shopping partnerships with Stripe, Shopify, PayPal, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart, and Wayfair. Muse can access the entire Shopify catalog agentically and complete purchases via Shop Pay. The company also opened its connector platform to developers, receiving over 1,500 applications in less than a week.
Zuckerberg positioned Muse as free for a large number of tokens, with Meta eventually profiting from transaction fees. 'In the coming years, I expect that Muse is going to grow into the personal superintelligence that billions of people around the world are going to use,' he said.
