Apple has redesigned Siri with on-device AI reasoning that understands natural conversational context. The new assistant parses multi-step requests, infers intent from casual language, and recognizes contradictions — all without sending data to cloud servers.
Example: 'Remind me to call my dentist when I leave the gym, unless I already booked an appointment.' Old Siri required exact syntax. New Siri parses the logical chain, checks calendar state, and synthesizes a coherent action.
The breakthrough: Apple's on-device models are now capable enough for daily reasoning tasks. The tradeoff is still real — smaller models on-device mean lower latency but not the raw capability of cloud inference. But for typical assistant tasks, the speed and privacy win.
